1ST ANNUAL DAY FUNCTION AND CME PRESS RELEASE

1st Annual day function and CME of State Chapter U.P, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) was held at Era’s Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, Era University, Lucknow on 9th December, 2024. This event was inaugurated by Shri Brajesh Pathak, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh who was Chief Guest. (Dr.) Digambar Behera, President, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Sarin, Immediate Past President, NAMS (India) Prof. Saroj Chooramani Gopal, Past President NAMS (India) Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Mishra, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, UP, Prof. (Dr.) C.M. Singh, Director, Dr. R.M.L Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, Prof. (Dr.) Umesh Kapil, Secretary, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), Prof. (Dr.) Farzana Mahdi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Era University, were Guest of honor. Prof (Dr.) A.A Mahdi, Vice Chancellor, Era University, Lucknow, presided over the function. Prof. Rajendra Prasad, Chairperson/Convener, State Chapter (UP), National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) and Director Medical Education and Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine, ELMC&H, Lucknow, spoke about the achievements of NAMS during the last one year. He said that this was first State chapter established in the State of Uttar Pradesh at Era University on 25th May 2023. Since then more than 35 CME’s have been organized, more than 15 new NAMS cells have been established in various medical colleges, institutes and universities. He further said that a website of State Chapter Uttar Pradesh, NAMS (India) have been established. He further informed that Women in Medicine cell, Bio statistic cell and Dental cell were also established under State Chapter UP. While inaugurating, Honorable Deputy Chief Guest Shri Brajesh Pathak thanked everyone for organizing this wonderful event and congratulated Prof. Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Era University for making this event a huge success and he further said that since independence India has made a tremendous progress in the field of Medicine and is nowhere lacking behind as compared to the rest of the World and he also visited and appreciated the innovations done by Era University and released souvenir, directory and website of State Chapter Uttar Pradesh NAMS (India). Prof. (Dr.) Sarooj Chooramani Gopal, Ex-president NAMS (India) thanked Era University for supporting NAMS and helping in its progression in every aspect. Prof. Dr. Umesh Kapil, Secretary, NAMS (India) said that NAMS has initiated NAMS-ICMR bio statistical helpline in order to provide help, guidance and mentorship to all PG students and young faculties who are undertaking research for technical support. Prof. Dr. SK. Sarin Immediate Past President, NAMS (India) commended that Uttar Pradesh has always been on the front line in providing medical education, skills and training. Prof. Sanjeev Mishra Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, UP joined via online mode and extended his best wishes to everyone. Prof. (Dr.) Digambar Behera, President, NAMS (India), said that he is glad that UP state chapter, NAMS is celebrating its 1st Annual Day Function and congratulated Prof. Rajendra Prasad and Era University for conducting the same and sent his best wishes through video recorded message. He further pointed out NAMS is a unique institution which fosters academic excellence as its resource to meet medical and social goals of the country. Dr. Pradeep Srivastava Senior Principal Scientist (Ex) CSIR (Central Drug Research Institute) delivered a lecture on ‘Bio Inspired Engineering’. He spoke on how the science has learnt from the nature and he presented his lecture through SCIENTOON. He gave example of concept of kingfisher birds applied in bullet trains, frogs grip concept applied in shoes, gecko lizard concept in applied in adhesives tapes, sea mussels concept applied in surgery, and many more. Dr. Pankaj Bharti, holistic physician spoke in length about the holistic care for lifestyle diseases. He spoke on how diet and our life style is very crucial for our health. He spoke about concept 2190 where one must create a habit and should follow it for 21 days to make it effective and should continue for at least 90 days. Dr. KB Gupta, Head and Prof, Department of Respiratory medicine gave a warm welcome to all. Dr. Rachit Sharma, Associate Professor, ELMC&H gave vote of thanks to everyone.This function was attended by more than 150 participants in offline mode and 75 participants through online mode which included fellows and members of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) from state of Uttar Pradesh and Faculties, U.G and P.G students from various institutes from Uttar Pradesh.
